Miss April
Owner / Director
Since attending her first dance class in 1973, April fell in love with the art of dance. She trained with multiple choreographers from New York City throughout her teenage years. Her greatest dance achievements were taking Tap classes from Gregory Hines and Savion Glover! At age 16, she was offered the job of teaching dance at a local dance school. She continued to learn and teach through high school and college. She earned a BA in Mathematics and a MS in Elementary Education from SCSU still dancing and teaching. She then began a family of her own with her husband, Danny, and raised two children; Stephen and Amanda. April continues working full time as a Math teacher in East Haven and teaching dance every moment she can.
Our Story
Established in 2017, Center Stage Dance Academy has always been about dance. The empowerment of it, the beauty of the movements, and the ability for self-expression. We at Center Stage Dance Academy pride ourselves in being nonparticipants in "Dance Competitions". Focusing instead on teaching expert level dance in a truly welcoming environment for students of all experience levels. Here at Center Stage, the focus is on the show. Every Spring, after months of hard work perfecting their dances, our classes put on a wonderous recital. Uniquely themed for each new rendition, students of all ages showcase everything they have learned though the year.
Center Stage Dance Academy and its teachers, are committed to the mission of extending their love for dance to as many willing people who can walk through our doors. We highly encourage youths of all backgrounds and experience levels to come find out what dance is all about!
